REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY FOR A BARBER’S LICENSE FOR RECIPROCITY

Please read the requirements below, then click on the link at the bottom of the page to begin the application process.

• Complete the License Application, answering all the questions and providing all the required documents.

• Every applicant must be over 18 years old.

• Upload a recent (taken less than six months prior), passport-type, 2 x 2 digital photo in color and scanned over a black or dark frame (the dark frame refers to the space surrounding the photo on the scan). THE PHOTO MUST BE IN GIF, JPG, or PNG FORMAT. OTHER FORMATS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTABLE.

• Credit card payment with Visa, MasterCard or Discover for $25.00

• Upload  in PDF format a copy of an original Certificate of No Penal Record issued by the Puerto Rico Police Department. Please note that this document expires 30 days after being issued.

• Upload in PDF format a copy of a negative outstanding debt certificate of no more than 90 days of having been issued by the Child Support Administration, pursuant to Article 30 of Act No. 86 of August 17, 1994. Please submit certificate of updated payment plan in case there is any outstanding debt.

• Upload in PDF format a copy of the barbering course diploma to PCS.

• Upload in PDF format an original copy of a public or private Health Certificate. If submitting a public Health Certificate ensure it includes the colored seal of the local Department of Health.

• Upload in PDF format a copy of your birth certificate, issued from 2010 onwards.

• Upload in PDF format to the PCS a sworn statement undersigned by a Public Notary from the same place, city, country or state of residence as the applicant. Please click HERE to print the document.

• Upload in PDF format evidence of active membership issued by the College of Barbers and Stylist Barbers of Puerto Rico, once you receive approval letter from PCS. PCS will not mail the certificate until evidence of professional membership is received.

• Upload a home state license certification sent directly or via email from the Board to the Professiona Credential Services (PCS) offices.

• Upload in PDF format to the portal a digital color copy of the Negative Certification of Law 300 of the year 1999. It must be less than one year old. Applies to any application filed as of July 1, 2022.

• The license is valid for three years.
